Conditions and House Rules

Welcome to “a Diófa”, we do our best to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

Welcome to “a Diófa”,
we do our best to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

House rules:

We promote eco-tourism, our goal is to keep it small, personal and sustainable. You stay in our garden, and therefore we assume that you understand and have respect for the many hours of work that we spend in order to get our garden and grounds clean and tidy, and to keep them that way. This, so that we can (continue to) share this special place with you and many others after you.

We do not have tightly defined rules or conditions. But we trust your common sense, and your respect for others and the nature around you. But if you misbehave, we certainly will kindly remind you of that

We welcome people from all walks of life, and we do not make a distinction based on skin colour, sexual preference, religion or political preference. We expect the same from our guests.

When you arrive

“It is a bit different than I had imagined!…..
Great, then we succeeded as it is also our intention to get you out of your normal routine.”

After a long and tiring journey, from a stressful life in a crowded and hurried western world, you may be surprised by the tranquillity and serenity that Hungary and this region offers. Or maybe our somewhat alternative atmosphere and location is different from what you imagined!

But rest assured, we know for sure that once your surprise has subsided, you will really enjoy it here. So relax, and let the tranquillity and beautiful surrounding do its work

Dogs

We love dogs. We have ourselves a very sweet and affectionate white Macedonian shepherd. But despite our preference for dogs, not all our guests will appreciate and love them. Because these people are also looking for a quiet and stress-free holiday, we therefore apply the rule that we do not allow dogs on our property.

Our dog lives on our private part of the site, and tries to protect us and your belongings as well as possible. But the main task is protection, so we request that you do not enter our private area without notice or guidance from one of us.

Mobile phones

With the Buddhist stupa only a stone’s throw away, we live in a special peaceful place where silence and tranquillity are central. We believe that music is something beautiful, and sometimes even can have a calming and stress-reducing effect. But as soon as your neighbour can hear your music or cell phone, you can assume that it is too loud. That is why we ask you to switch off your ringtone and not to use a loud loudspeaker or radio. We do encourage the playing of acoustic instruments. That is, unless you cannot play an instrument off course

Very large tents / campers

The roads to our site are steep and the width may be limited in some places. We know from experience that the driver’s skills can be tested to the maximum. That is why we only allow mini-campers up to 5 meters or small folding trailers to enter our site. Larger tents can generally be accommodated. Bear in mind that you might not be able to stand on a leveled piece. If you want to know for sure if your tent, mini-camper or folding trailer can come to us, please contact us first.

Guests

One of the fun things about holidays is that you will meet lots of people. We therefore understand that you may want to invite them for a drink. No problem, but if your guests want to stay over for the night, they will off course have to pay for it.

Showers, toilets and communal areas

We expect you to keep the showers, toilets and the communal areas clean and tidy.

Because toilets are available, we find wild peeing inappropriate and we experience that as a lack of respect.

Our toilets are urine diverting compost toilets. Therefore, only use the toilet paper that we provide. So called hygienic wipes are not naturally degradable, and therefore do not belong in the compost toilet. If you cannot do without these, throw them in the waste bin after use. This off course also applies to sanitary pads and tampons. There is special explanation on how to use a urine diverting compost toilet. Read this carefully to avoid disappointment and bad odours.

There is one communal fireplace for a BBQ or to sit around a campfire during the evenings. And there a communal rocket stove which can be used for cooking. Other open fires are NOT allowed. Always apply safety first:

  • avoid using the fire pit on windy days, since flames or embers can spread to your tent, camper, yard and nearby trees,
  • never use flammable liquids to start a fire. These fuels can cause a fire to get out of control quickly. Instead, use dry wood as kindling that doesn’t extend beyond the edge of the pit,
  • even if a fire is small, flames can spread quickly if left unattended. Therefore never leave a fire unattended and monitor at all times,
  • maintain a proper distance and don’t exhibit risky behaviour,
  • always have a bucket of water or sand close to douse the fire in case it gets out of hand,
  • when you’re finished using the campfire, extinguish the fire with water or sand and gently stir and spread the ashes to cool. Leave only when you’re sure they’ve cooled down enough,
  • cooking on a rocket stove is cooking on open fire. Be sure your pots and pans are able to handle the heat. Never leave your cooking unattended.

On dry summer days it may happen that the mayor proclaims a open fire/BBQ ban. Should that happen, we hang a clear warning note at the showers.

Waste

There are designated areas for your waste. We promote recycling, therefore use the right container for the right type of waste.
